Assembly Awards

Monday 21st January 2019

Today, during assembly, some guests came in to the school. Not any kind of guests, but the High Sheriff of Surrey, Jim Glover. The other people who came were, Mr Ryder, Deputy Lieutenant, Mr Savoo, Mr Smlye and Mrs Hepenstall.

Outdoor Explorers, the club which Mrs Ottaway runs, did three one-hour sessions on emergency procedures, such as: Grab bags, Gas leaks, and dealing with floods.

On the topic of floods, in 2010, there was a really big flood in Cornwall. When the Prince of Wales visited, he talked about setting up a Home Safety Award. This award was for children aged 5-10 to help around the house, and to be ready for things like emergencies; this is the award which the children worked towards, known as The Duke of Cornwall’s Home Award.

Today there were 22 children who got this award, their names: Olivia, Logan, Jacob, Slivery, Florentina, Stephany,  Andrea, Archey, Anabell, Lexie, Harry B., Harry, Oliva, Alexia, Chole, Hogmise, Seren, Katelen, Benji, and last but not least, Elenor.
