Effective teaching of grammar facilitates the coherent use of language. Grammar vocabulary is not taught solely in isolation.  It is essential that children are exposed to real life references to see the purpose of the terminology- not just what it is, but how to use it!

The children are expected to progress through the years with increasing development of skills to answer the following points.

• Why are they writing?
• Who is the audience?
• How can grammar knowledge make effective writing?
